OTTAWA, Nov. 27, 2013 /CNW/ - As the Canadian Red Crossdelivers more life-saving medical care and support to other relief operations in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan's devastation in the Philippines, it welcomes a Government of Canada announcement extending by two weeks to December 23rd, a program to match dollar-for-dollar eligible donations by individuals to the relief effort. "The needs are still immense and we remain committed to helping people in the immediate aftermath and in the longer term," says Conrad Sauvé, secretary general and CEO of the Canadian Red Cross.

Port Moody crooner Frankie Cena was with host Ria Jade for last month’s launch of the eveRIAthing television show on Shaw. For Diy, the TV show brings her a step closer to her dream of being “the next star” and allows her to share her passion for performing.The show’s first episode featured singer Jerrica Santos, who is this year’s Grand Champion for Variety’s Got Talent.Her show is also in the works of being continuously aired on SHAW’s Multicultural Channel 116.The 15-year-old is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter who just performed at the Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair to rave reviews.
